Here's a record of last week's still life class featuring a monkey toy. One of the students shared that monkeys often treat their school as a playground, reminding me of my own childhood shock when a monkey snatched my breakfast while hiking at Chai Mountain.

● What are the characteristics of primate anatomy?
Primates share a similar skeletal structure to humans, especially in the length of their limbs and shoulder flexibility.
For example, chimpanzees have long arms and broad shoulders, allowing for a wide range of motion. In the lower left diagram, you can see how these long limbs and flexible shoulders enable their swinging movement.
2.A key feature of primates is their grasping ability with both thumbs and big toes. Most primates have opposable thumbs or big toes, allowing them to grip objects firmly.
● How do you draw primates?
1. Body Proportions:
In primates like chimpanzees, the head is relatively large, and the arms are longer than the legs—an important characteristic to note when sketching proportions.
Their bodies are about three head lengths in height. Refer to the skeletal proportions in the bottom left.
2. Setting Action Lines:
Use simple action lines to capture the dynamic poses of primates in motion, such as swinging or climbing. Check the action lines in the bottom right for pose references.
Start with simple poses and motion, sketching basic action lines of the body. Gradually add structural details by breaking the body into different parts, such as the torso resembling an inverted trapezoid and the arms as cylindrical shapes. Refer to the small monkey figure next to the skeleton on the right.
